that place people go to in the summer
My favorite part of the beach are the endless winds that make the heat seem bearable. If you were laying on the ground anywhere else in 90 degree weather you would feel the sweat pour out of you like a pitcher of lemonade. Laying there, toes in the sand -- only a few feet away from the crashing waves -- close enough to feel a light splash of water, but far enough away that you won't be swallowed by the sea.
Then there are the endless boardwalks that make up the Jersey Shore, ending at the Asbury Park Boardwalk. A piece of history that is slowly crumbling, yet is enchantingly beautiful; a reminder of the past that we all seem to be holding onto.

the products of boredom
I've had a great deal of free time recently and I can't seem to sit still... (besides the endless hours I spent watching all four season of Game of Thrones in less than a month --I couldn't control myself, it's just too darn good).
I've been trying to paint. It's not my strong suit, but I'm working on it and I just really enjoy doing it.

beirut
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to spend my lovely Saturday in Brooklyn at the Northside Festival.... Specifically to see the hauntingly beautiful band Beirut show with one of my dearest friends. If I could spend every weekend -- heck, every day -- at a show on a breezy summer night, I would. Sign me up. Here's to hoping I have more summer nights like this one.

weekend at the lake
Caroline's 25th birthday. Food, friends, beer, nature, fire, smores, beer, beer, etc. I love the Poconos, I love the lake, and I love that weekend. Couldn't have asked for better friends or better weather. Take me back.
(i MIGHT have an obsession with this mug...)
grandmother
I recently learned something wonderful about my grandmother who just turned ninety this past February. She was an artist and an aspiring fashion designer in her youth. I never knew this. I never even thought to ask. The question should have been asked ages ago. My mother is an extraordinary talented person and she had to inherit that talent somehow. I also inherited that love for fashion and art (though I wish my talent was equivalent to my mother and grandmother's). Below are some sketches from when my grandmother was in high school. I'm in awe of her talent.

Taking advice from public bathrooms
Lately I've found inspiration in the strangest places, public bathrooms to be more specific. It's funny how strangers can inspire you.

winter's captivity
With the endless snowfall and chilling temperatures, winter has taken me captive. I am it's unwilling prisoner. Although I love the smell of winter and the beauty of a perfect white snowfall, it has taken its toll. I long for the days I am woken by the warmth and glow of the sun. I want to go for early morning or late night runs, discovering land I've never opened my eyes to see, to truly take in.
But, since it's not yet February, I'll lock myself in my room and make time pass. Whether it's reading a good book or hunching over my sketchbook or clinging to one of my most prized possessions, my hot glue gun. Winter sparks my creativity, so it can't be that bad.
